When I was first introduced to this school in February 2022 they had 4 classrooms, which had been built from mud blocks, which aren’t sustainable given the intense rainy season in the country.
All 4 classrooms were in a terrible state of repair, including one wall in each classroom, which had totally collapsed, and the roof was being held up by bamboo poles.
We re-built all the classrooms, added in a staffroom, office and store and equipped the classrooms with new furniture and proper blackboards.
As with other projects that we have undertaken, when you improve the learning environment more children want to attend and there was a need for two additional classrooms.
We have recently completed the funding to build and equip the first of these new classroom at the school – this is the 47th classroom we have funded since 2007!!
In September we are planning to start the building of the remaining classroom but still require some funding to be able to complete this.
