Earlier this week the guys struck “gold” – well, (no pun intended) the water table at a depth of 14 metres (45 feet)!! This is amazing when you consider that EVERYTHING was done manually with pick axe and shovels and all the spoil was removed by a bucket and rope on a pulley system.

The picture shows one of the workmen being “given a lift home” by his workmates. It took 5 of them to haul him out on the pulley system
