My current project is funding the building of a small secondary school in Konno Town, Sierra Leone, as currently students have to walk up to 5 miles each way to attend classes.
Key Phases of the Build
Phase 1 – we are currently building and equipping two classrooms, a staffroom and office.
Phase 2 – will be the building of an essential toilet block.
Phase 3 – will see further classrooms being built, as funds permit.
Phase 1 is going really well and the roof of the block has just been completed.
In order to raise further funds towards the target Alan is going to walk 10 miles around a circuit of Banbury Rugby Club and the surrounding area on the afternoon of Friday 23rd June, to replicate what the Konno Town students currently have to do on a daily basis. He has chosen this route as it is flat!! He occasionally suffers with Atrial Fibrillation so 10 miles is still quite a challenge for him.
